Kuruvi – A fans Review
I have been a vijay fan since my 10th class… i have never missed any film of his.. and from kushi onwards i have always been watching the first show of his movies. I was there for the first show of the movie in Bangalore.. i am writing my opinion on the movie.
Dharani has disappointed me with a very fragile screenplay and unnecessary dialogues and larger than life stunts. I sincerely thought ATM was a superb film.. it was very good display of acting from an actor of Vijay’s stature.. we must really appreciate the way the negative character was pictured.. Look at kuruvi, the intro was larger than life.. (ok agreed it will go well with the fans)… and the race scene was very dramatic and predictable.. and the scene after the race reminded me of exactly the same scene from ghilli where the director’s name is shown..
The intro song is power packed and 20/10 for the dance in it. The scene in which he steals the diamond in a few seconds (reminded of Entrapment).. the director could have left the box blank rather than replacing with a kalkandu.. Jeeva (lollusabha fame) was an unnecessary character just to get beaten.. I can accept the larger than life stunts and things.. but why to back it all with an unnecessary lengthy dialogues. I just asked to myself what difference do i see in Perarasu and Dharani in this regard..
And music, i knew none of the songs were very good during the audio launch but i was expecting them to be good on screen.. disappointment there too.. the songs were positioned so predictably and trisha was used only for the songs.
Too many scenes were taken from Sivaji.. like when vijay asks vivek to touch one of the two fingers… there are more scenes which u will realize while watching..
Coming on to the positives.. Vijay’s acting and dance was good.. He has delivered as expected from the director. Vijay has always been a director’s hero. Here dharani had made him look very bad.. not that he has under performed.
Its time Vijay rethinks his strategy and come up with a nice movie next time. He is definitely capable of giving a better movie. Get away from this fragile mass oriented scripts. It doesn’t help his stature neways.

Barca – dump 3-4-3
![]()
The last month was filled with few disappointments for the best soccer club in the world who on their day can beat any side in the world. Let us get into the details of the recent failure of F.C.Barcelona where in a month they were knocked out of champions league and momentarily lost the Spanish league top spot to Sevilla. Yet for all their inadequacies as a unit in this campaign, I still feel they should win the spanish league title hands down. The achilles heel for barca in recent times is the amount of pressure on the defenders in their 3-4-3 formation. Barca cannot keep its creative midfielders out in favor of a more reliable formation because their playing style is influenced by their midfield’s ability to make creative chances for the ever watchful and agile front 3. The last few matches especialy the two against chelsea gave a feeling that the 3 defenders were often in immense pressure esp from the wingers.
There is no immediate solution for this as they are not willing to go back to the slate to change a tested and proven playing style. Maybe adding two quality full backs or even 1 full back and a wing back who can assist the midfield will ease some pressure but at the cost of 1-2 midfielders or 1-MF and 1-FW. Better still though, stick to 4-3-3, No team plays that way better than Barcelona on song.
Clean bowled
If Rahul can”t buckle under pressure, he can come back home and help his wife and mom in the kitchen. Why cooking up stories regarding injury and escaping. Thank God, I haven’t wasted my time in watching those useless matches.
Whether or not Dravid is faking his injury, this news did come as a surprise because neither during the play nor immediately after that there was any hint of something having gone wrong. In case he is not really injured but is staying away from the games on this pretext, it would further prove that something is indeed wrong between Dravid and the shameless, uncouth and brainless Greg Chappell.
It was reported by a TV channel that there was a bust up between the two before the 2nd ODI. It does seem that Dravid is now fed up of this autocratic craphead. Dravid is now tired of being a side-kick of the Aussie. In any case, he must be heaving a sigh of relief for not having to play in the last two one-dayers.
It doesn’t need too much of an intellectual ability to discern that this boorish, uncultured Chappell has ended up dismantling a team which was doing reasonably well until he took over as the coach. In the name of building up a team for WC ’07 this brainless bullheaded person has destroyed whatever was good with the team. Chappell needs to be booted out.
I sincerely feel Ganguly, whos now back in the team has to deliver and put up a great comeback (as he has always done). If he goes on to find form I see him leading team india by the time of world cup. He is the only person who can bring in the sting and fighting spirit in players which is long missing. Enough of intellectual captaincy and astute coaching.. all India needs is raw agression and a leader who can feels winning brings pride to the team and nation.
When will this change

In some parts of India, marriage into a good family is the ultimate social symbol – even if it’s at the cost of penury.
Baleshwar Paswan lives in Bihar’s Vaishali district. Till a few years ago, he was a powerful man, a local MLA of the area.
Now, however, he is left with just three
acres of land on which his family just manages to survive. So what
happened in these intervening years?
Paswan says his only achievement till date
has been the marriage of his two daughters into repsectable families -
but that he is still paying the price of his daughters’ weddings for he
has spent all his life’s savings on meeting his married daughters’
demands.
“I have to take care of my daughters and
make sure that they are happy. I till land now because I have to feed
my family,” says he.
Marriage is the ultimate status symbol in
these parts of India. If one has a daughter at home, she must be
married, and that too, into a good family.
In securing this psychological and social ambition, Baleshwar Paswan has almost become a beggar.
If I don’t till this land, then how will my family survive? I do this so that I can feed my family,” says he.
For some Indian families, marriages are a one way ticket to a life time of poverty.

Tomorrow never comes
“I’ll do it tomorrow” – any human who does not say/follow this is God .
There are many types of I’ll do it tomorrow,
- I’ll complete this work tomorrow
- I’ll Study tomorrow
- I’ll play tomorrow
- I’ll come tomorrow
etc..
What makes mind think it can be done some other time.. or rather can’t be done at this time is really mysterious.
The first type is those people who just feel enough is done today, or don’t feel like doing anything today
and hence giving an excuse that they will do the work tomorrow.
People who fall in this category are lucky . They end up discovering more
, lead a healthy lifestyle and excuse me if I say they rock !! .This might be debatable but time and again I find people who have excelled in life and fortunately are the ones who have been of this type.
The “ I’ll Play tomorrow “types are people who are “scholar’s” . They like books , they “have to” come first in class . “Have to” and “ want to” has a subtle difference. Are you able to figure out ? Did I hear – NO !! You are not this types anyway so why worry ! Kids of these type are the ones an average middle class Indian parent craves for. My kid comes – first , he is into the I.I.T’s and then an M.B.A from I.I.M’s and then he settles in the USA . Perfect , flawless life .
Imagine I was the “ I’ll play tomorrow “ type . But neither I came first, nor I got into the IIT , I got into an Engineering college , I faired(scraped through
) , I got a job , I start working , I go to office at 9 , I come back at 7 , I work for money in my account to increase( do not worry even if it is not increasing , its only your neighbour who must feel it does increase – nothing else is important)
)
When do I do sketching , painting , clicking photos, watch some cricket , may be football – the weekend is marked for all this . The weekends never come . Do they come for you ?
If you’ve started feeling – “sounds interesting but I am different ? ” then..
Think about it “ Tomorrow !’.
SavanDurga Cycling Expedition
After a full meals in andhra mess, me,vv,praneeth and santosh started from BTM and reached EMC at 1.45PM. Everyone else (Amit, Arun, Gaekwad, Vinayak, Phanse, Robert) were present there, ready to rock. The van came and we started our journey to SavanDurga.
It was a 2Hr journey from office to SavanDurga. The place was a nice mountaneous region and it had a huge dam between the hills. We got down near the peak and we put on our helmets and adjusted the air levels in the cycles.. and ready to go !
There was a huge steep mountain nearby which instantly caught everyone’s eye for the smooth steep sides. And there was a small ruined temple on the base of the hill. There was a fort ruin ontop which wasnt visible though. It was here the cycling expedition started.
I was initially not sure of myself whether i would finish the whole 15km stretch. There were two ppl, Deepu and Guru who were the guides for us. Deepu was leading the pack and Guru came at the back with the van. The van followed us (just in case
) for the whole journey. The roads were very bumpy and it had challenging mix of uphill and downhill stages.
There were many rocky hills on the way, i wanted to take snaps of each one of em but was concentrating on continuing cycling. After 4kms or so, i felt really exausted and thought of giving up, then took some water and continued. The sceneries were really pleasant. there were few step farming fields and lots of cattle on road.
Then there was sun set, It was beautiful seeing the sun set among clouds. Thousand rays of light spread across the sky. When we were half way down, it was dusk. We took some small break (5 mins) here and there and we went on. When it was some 3kms to go there was a huge uphill stretch, i tried to cycle it but gave up in between. Me, Phanse and Vinayak chose to walk it till the steep uphill stretch was over. It was dark by then.
Then we reached the reservoir (dam) which was the end point of the expedition. I was very much releived that it was over as i was cramping already. It took some 2Hrs to complete it and it was really enjoyable ride.It took a big toll on and helped burning few calories. We parked our cycles and went to the bank of the reservoir. Then we had some refreshment there and we got into the van to get back to bangalore.

A Legends Last Lap
Whatever happens in the final two Grands Prix of 2006, Michael Schumacher is sure to look back on his farewell season as one of the most satisfying of his career.
With his stunning victory in China on Sunday, the Ferrari driver took the world championship lead for the first time this year and now looks more likely than his rival Fernando Alonso to end the season on top.
The two men head into Japan next weekend and Brazil two weeks after that equal on points, setting up one of the most exciting climaxes in Formula One history.
But what makes the closing stages of this season such an enticing prospect is the sheer quality of the drivers involved.
Schumacher’s standing as an all-time great is well-established, and over the last few seasons Alonso has proven himself as his heir apparent.
The Spanish Renault driver will take over in 2007 Schumacher’s position as the best racing driver in the world – indeed, some would say he already holds it.
As former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger puts it, there is “hardly anything between them”.
Schumacher may – it is hard to know – be ever so slightly faster. Alonso appears to lack his propensity for unsportsmanlike behaviour, and is arguably less prone to mistakes under pressure. Both display the incredible commitment and consistency that allows them to operate on a level beyond any of their rivals.
Sunday’s race in China was just the latest example of the genius of both men.It will surely go down as one of the greatest performances of Schumacher’s career.
To win in those conditions, on Bridgestone tyres apparently inferior to Renault’s Michelins, puts his drive right up there among the many other examples in his career of overcoming seemingly overwhelming odds, such as in Canada in 2003.But Alonso was equally superb.
He annihilated team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella – one of F1’s best exponents of wet-weather driving – in the first stint in equal equipment, and his pace in the final part of the race was nothing short of breathtaking – more than second a lap faster than any other driver for the best part of 20 laps.
The point is that this is a no-holds-barred contest between two of history’s greatest racing drivers, and as such it is exactly what F1 fans were robbed of when Ayrton Senna was killed at the start of 1994.It is also what Schumacher has lacked throughout most of his career.
One of the reasons so many observers are reluctant to class him as the greatest of all time, despite his overwhelming statistical superiority, is the relative paucity of opposition he has faced.Only in his title battles with Mika Hakkinen in 1998 and 2000 had Schumacher faced a driver arguably as fast as him, and never – until now – anyone as complete.
But now, finally, there is Alonso, and their struggle is more than living up to all expectations. The pity of it in many ways is that one of them has to be the loser, but then sportsmen as great as these can never really be that.

Sheva Blues
It was hard to keep up with the number of Chelsea players coming out in support of Andriy Shevchenko last week.
Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel all tried to boost the struggling Ukrainian but it didn’t seem to make a scrap of difference against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Alan Hansen expressed his fears for the £30m striker.
“I think he looks heavy-legged. I don’t think he can run that fast.
“I’m not so sure. His performances so far in the Premiership have not been that great and when Michael Ballack and Joe Cole come back, I’m not sure he’s going to play.”
Having watched the game, I find it hard to disagree with Hansen – although I also take Mourinho’s point that Sheva’s all-round play was impressive and he did as much as anyone to try to create a Chelsea winner.
With him and Thierry Henry on form, we could be watching the world’s best two strikers in the Premiership and that is an enticing prospect.
I hope Mourinho’s right when he says Sheva just needs time but after Saturday’s performance, like Hansen, I’m not so sure.
