Kuruvi – A fans Review

I have been a vijay fan since my 10th class… i have never missed any film of his.. and from kushi onwards i have always been watching the first show of his movies. I was there for the first show of the movie in Bangalore.. i am writing my opinion on the movie.

Dharani has disappointed me with a very fragile screenplay and unnecessary dialogues and larger than life stunts. I sincerely thought ATM was a superb film.. it was very good display of acting from an actor of Vijay’s stature.. we must really appreciate the way the negative character was pictured.. Look at kuruvi, the intro was larger than life.. (ok agreed it will go well with the fans)… and the race scene was very dramatic and predictable.. and the scene after the race reminded me of exactly the same scene from ghilli where the director’s name is shown..

The intro song is power packed and 20/10 for the dance in it. The scene in which he steals the diamond in a few seconds (reminded of Entrapment).. the director could have left the box blank rather than replacing with a kalkandu.. Jeeva (lollusabha fame) was an unnecessary character just to get beaten.. I can accept the larger than life stunts and things.. but why to back it all with an unnecessary lengthy dialogues. I just asked to myself what difference do i see in Perarasu and Dharani in this regard..

And music, i knew none of the songs were very good during the audio launch but i was expecting them to be good on screen.. disappointment there too.. the songs were positioned so predictably and trisha was used only for the songs.
Too many scenes were taken from Sivaji.. like when vijay asks vivek to touch one of the two fingers… there are more scenes which u will realize while watching..

Coming on to the positives.. Vijay’s acting and dance was good.. He has delivered as expected from the director. Vijay has always been a director’s hero. Here dharani had made him look very bad.. not that he has under performed.

Its time Vijay rethinks his strategy and come up with a nice movie next time. He is definitely capable of giving a better movie. Get away from this fragile mass oriented scripts. It doesn’t help his stature neways.

  2. I agrre with all those points by Subash. All those were perfectly true. There is only a major plus in the movie. Its Vivek’s comedy. I completely hate each and very part other than that.

  3. Excellent review… Even I have been vijay’s fan since kushi. what a coincidence!!!

And this is a blog dedicated to “thalaivar” vijay. Why on Earth is “sudalamani” talking about TRISHA?? I hate it – nonetheless, i love trisha… :D

  4. Mr. Kadalamani,

I have been Tricha’s fan since she was 3 years old (When i was 2 years old only ;) ). GILLY would have been a flop with out Tricha…
Kuruvi is attracting people just because Tricha…
Subbu is telling that Vijay is “director’s hero” and Dharani under-utilized him… I know what Vijay did during his early movies… He used to say “Annnaaa…. ennnangnnaa” and he use to apply soap (literally) to Sanghavi and Sri Vidhya…

    he hee heee TRICHA rocks…

  5. Hey sudala,

Mark your words, friend. there have been ppl entering and leaving the field. but vijay has always been a hero in the making. whatever you’ve mentioned, even kamal and rajni have done in the early parts of their career. one day or the other, vijay is sure to reach there…

    :-X

  6. Dei Kadala,

What you mean by “ppl entering and leaving the field”? Thanni thenginaa adhukku peru saakadai… oadinaa neerodai (I mean stagnating water will be in ditch and running water will be in river). I warn Vijay not use this dialogue in his next Perarasu’s movie. Don’t dare to compare Vijay with Rajini… Rajini has done some mind-blowing movies…

  7. Sudala,

i warn you for two things:

First – try to pay some respect; we are yet to get intorduced even. Second – mind your words when it comes to vijay. Dont use fowl language you bas****… at least use *s as and when applicable.

vijay’s next movie is definitely be a sooper dooper hit, i bet on it. you will definitely go and watch with your family. vijay’s formula is exactly the same as rajni’s. agreed that he’s been behind women. but all that’s history today. so are those damn HIT movies that rajni gave his fans…

  8. Kadala,

After giving a deep thinking, I realize that Vijay is indeed a wonderful actor. I understand that he gives 10 times more when it comes to beating and love (adinaalum anbunaaalum mathavanga kodukkaradha vida pathu madangu adhihamaa kodukkanum). I think the same applies to his SHIT movies ;)

Using Tamil Cinema as a platform and Pacha pullai’s like Subbu as his supporters, he has indeed developed a lot during his career…I have seen his acting right from Vishu till Kuruvi and I am glad to give him 100% improvement where his initial acting skill is ZERO :D

Kadhalakku Mariyadhai – was a HIT due to director, songs
Gilli – was a HIT due to Screenplay, Prakashrah, Tricha ;)

Do we need to discuss Thirupachi, Sivakasi, Erode, Coimbatore etc… he hee heee

    GOD save kollywood :D

  11. I dont normally read blogs…but the conversation between sudalai and kadalai is the talk of the town and i loved reading it….and I cant believe I am commenting on it too!!good fun :) keep the healthy conversation going on so that we can decide the real calibre of Vijay…Btw I like Vijay’s movies too…not one of those who go for the first show…yet to watch kuruvi! dont know when I will waste 2.5 hours of my time on that :D
but I am really thinking if I should watch that movie because I am shocked at the way subbu has commented about the movie…Subbu is actually a Vijay verian and very optimistic about Vijay’s acting skills…
Anyways I really liked the sentence “Using Tamil Cinema as a platform and Pacha pullai’s like Subbu as his supporters, he has indeed developed a lot during his career…”
I dont really want to comment on it coz some of his movies were good and some were equally bad…
