SavanDurga Cycling Expedition

After a full meals in andhra mess, me,vv,praneeth and santosh started from BTM and reached EMC at 1.45PM. Everyone else (Amit, Arun, Gaekwad, Vinayak, Phanse, Robert) were present there, ready to rock. The van came and we started our journey to SavanDurga.

It was a 2Hr journey from office to SavanDurga. The place was a nice mountaneous region and it had a huge dam between the hills. We got down near the peak and we put on our helmets and adjusted the air levels in the cycles.. and ready to go !

There was a huge steep mountain nearby which instantly caught everyone’s eye for the smooth steep sides. And there was a small ruined temple on the base of the hill. There was a fort ruin ontop which wasnt visible though. It was here the cycling expedition started.

I was initially not sure of myself whether i would finish the whole 15km stretch. There were two ppl, Deepu and Guru who were the guides for us. Deepu was leading the pack and Guru came at the back with the van. The van followed us (just in case :P ) for the whole journey. The roads were very bumpy and it had challenging mix of uphill and downhill stages.

There were many rocky hills on the way, i wanted to take snaps of each one of em but was concentrating on continuing cycling. After 4kms or so, i felt really exausted and thought of giving up, then took some water and continued. The sceneries were really pleasant. there were few step farming fields and lots of cattle on road.

Then there was sun set, It was beautiful seeing the sun set among clouds. Thousand rays of light spread across the sky. When we were half way down, it was dusk. We took some small break (5 mins) here and there and we went on. When it was some 3kms to go there was a huge uphill stretch, i tried to cycle it but gave up in between. Me, Phanse and Vinayak chose to walk it till the steep uphill stretch was over. It was dark by then.

Then we reached the reservoir (dam) which was the end point of the expedition. I was very much releived that it was over as i was cramping already. It took some 2Hrs to complete it and it was really enjoyable ride.It took a big toll on and helped burning few calories. We parked our cycles and went to the bank of the reservoir. Then we had some refreshment there and we got into the van to get back to bangalore.
